Materials
Luminary candlesticks are made from solid white cedar – a pale brown, straight-grained timber that is beautifully suited to turning and decorative carving. Each candlestick is created from three separate pieces, which are individually turned and hand carved before being assembled to create the stunning candlestick that will bring light to your life.
Finishes
Once assembled the candlesticks are individually "torched" to give each candlesticks it's unique appearance. Cracks appear in the delicately carved surfaces. The grain of the timber starts to reveal itself and the heat brings the candlestick to life. This is where each candlestick takes on its own personality. This is the essence of Luminary
From here the candlestick is brushed to remove excess charcoal and painted black. A final application of matt polyurethane is applied to seal the surface and give the appearance that it has just been pulled from the fire.
The gold and silver finish is a traditional Oil Gilded application using alloy "leaf" and coatings of shellac to add the perfect finishing touch.
